Endometriosis is a common yet debilitating gynaecological condition. It occurs when cells lining the inside of the uterus grow on the outside. Dr Tween can help you manage endometriosis and perform excisional laparoscopic surgery, if required.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition that can be painful and often leads to menstrual problems and infertility. The good news is that Dr Tween can recommend effective treatments that may relieve the symptoms of your endometriosis, and management of the condition can range from lifestyle advice and medical therapy through to surgical treatment.
As a leading endometriosis specialist in Canberra, Dr Tween can perform laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for the removal of endometriosis. This type of surgery is minimally invasive, with less post-op pain and quicker recovery. Under general anaesthetic, small incisions are made on the abdominal wall to pass the laparoscope – a long thin camera with a light source – into the abdominal cavity. Dr Tween can then examine your pelvic region for endometriosis and remove any lesions. The benefits of laparoscopic surgery are reduced pain, rapid recovery and smaller scars, and it usually means you won’t need to stay in hospital overnight.
To protect you, my staff, myself and the broader community from Covid19 infection, all consultation is preferentially done through telehealth. For patients who already have appointments booked, please email my room at email@example.com if you would like to take up the offer of video conferencing or phone consult. I am still taking new appointments but these will also be conducted through Skype or Zoom.
Take care everyone, and stay at home!
